Magic Knight Rayearth

Magic Knight Rayearth is another good story by Clamp. The first part is rather fun loving (until the ending), and not extremely wonderful. Only the ending really makes the story. And from there, the second half of the series takes off in true Clamp nature -- a tragedy for almost every character. But Hikaru is too cute and naive to realize she's in the middle of a heart wrenching moment. And of course, you have to love Lantis and Eagle in part 2 (and yes, that's a horrible picture of Eagle that I sketched up to put on the page to honor Clamp's request not to post their images on the web...if only I could better represent their artwork). | |
| The story begins as three different schools have a field trip to Tokyo Tower on the same day. Suddenly, a bright light takes three girls - Hikaru, Fuu, Umi - to the magical world of Cephiro where a strong will can make things come true. There they meet a magician, Clef, who tells them they have been summonded by the princess and 'pillar' of this world, who had been kidnapped by Zagato. The three girls are to become the Magic Knights Rayearth and find the 'Mashin' to rescue the princess. Only after they have achieved this mission can the girls return to Tokyo. Thus, their adventure begins. |
